Musical Cheers: Guinness

Frank Hermans

In the spirit of beer being the beverage of the everyday man (and woman), we present Musical Cheers, a column that puts real beer in the hands of real people. Musical Cheers is guest authored by a revolving selection of friends and columnists with tastes as varied as the beers they review.

Name of beer reviewing: Guinness

Type of beer: Irish Dry Stout

ABV: 5 percent

I'm drinking my Guinness in Ireland at The Cypress Avenue in Cork, Ireland, listening to a Queen Tribute band called Qween and they f*ckin' rock. In Ireland the only way to drink Guinness is on tap (nitrogen, no CO2). I'm expecting it to taste like sh*t as I hate stout beers.

As I drink it I start to talk in Irish to myself. “Laddy you are ¼ Irish and if you don't like this swill you will be sacrilege to your heritage, come on, man, take one for the Hurling ball championship team from Galaway; they haven't won the championship in 45 years and just wiped the ass of Limerick." And Walla … Swill.

You'll like this beer if: You like stout beers.

You'll dislike this beer if: You do not like stout beers
