In the spirit of beer being the beverage of the everyday man (and woman), we present Musical Cheers, a column that puts real beer in the hands of real people. Musical Cheers is guest authored by a revolving selection of friends and columnists with tastes as varied as the beers they review.

Pre-tasting: I found myself on 3rd Street in Milwaukee after the Packer game. I asked the bartender “What would you recommend?" and was given a beer that had a simple yet inviting look. The beer came in a standard 12-ounce can so it had the feel of a regular beer but this was no regular beer. It had the smell of both hops and citrus. I initially thought that I would be having a beer that tasted of oranges.
Post-tasting: After I took my first taste I was presently surprised at the amount of flavor packed into a 12-ounce can. Not only did it have a citrus taste but also a light pine flavoring. This is followed by a malt flavor with a touch of mango. Pre-tasting I thought the orange citrus flavor would be overwhelming but post-drink the flavors were very subtle but satisfying. This beer brought me to my happy place — so much so that I decided to polish off a six-pack.
