So you fancy yourself something of a singer… in the shower at least. You hit some of the local karaoke nights, but you're looking for something a little different. Maybe you have a whole group of folks that want to sing to the same song. Maybe you just like to sit back and watch as everyone else sings their little hearts out.
Piano Bar Sing-Along at the Green Room Lounge is the unique musical event for all those scenarios (and more). It's a FREE event, and the full bar is open as well. The festivities start at 8 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month.
So, what is the experience like, you ask? Think dueling pianos, but with just one guy!! De Pere native Dan Rafferty plays your favorite requests while you, a bunch of friends, or the entire room sings. We pull up the words and chords from the trusty internet, and project them on the movie screen for Dan and everyone to see. From there, one to five folks jump on the microphones, often with the backing vocals of the rest of the room.
And the music selection? We'll let Rafferty explain, “I never thought I'd play Beatles, '80s, rap, top 40, punk, Disney and Frank Sinatra all in one night." On a typical night you'll hear upwards of 60+ songs of just about any genre you want to hear. And that's the best part – like karaoke, you get to pick the songs!
We asked Rafferty, about the origins of the event. “It started as something just to have fun and try out, but now it's become a massive event that people plan for each month."
