Set on November 21st, 1963, Dogfight centers around Eddie Birdlace and his Marine comrades who are enduring one last night of debauchery before their departure to the growing conflict in Southeast Asia (Vietnam War). They decide to throw a traditional party, known as the "dogfight" which requires each Marine to bring the ugliest date they can find. The rules state, "the Marine with the ugliest date, wins the pot of cash." Amidst their search through the streets of San Francisco, Eddie meets a young and idealistic waitress, Rose Fenny, at a local diner and persuades her into being his date to the party. Unaware of what's to come, she excitedly agrees and searches for the perfect dress to wear, but when she finds out the true meaning behind the party later on, she decides to show Eddie the true meaning of love and compassion when he returns to her home to apologize.
Filled with memorable songs and unacceptable situations, Dogfight will send audiences on a journey of awareness, that will stick with them for the future.
